Information
“We want a world where we take a train in Busan and get off in Europe.”

As a special envoy of the Emperor Gojong of Korea, Yi Jun went on the travel to the Hague Peace Conference via Trans-Siberian Railway (TSR). The gold-medal marathoner of the Olympic Games Berlin 1936 also took this train to Berlin. Korea has been connected via TSR to the European Continent from long time ago.
However, the Donghae Line railway which was the key transport to connect Korea to other North East Asian and European countries has never been in operation for 70 years since the Korean War broke out and divided Korea into the South and the North.
When reconnected, the Donghae Line Railway, by supporting exchanges between the South and the North, will transform South Korea from a de facto island into a hub of the regional exchanges and become the fundamental infrastructure of East Asia Economic Community as well as the symbol of lasting peace in the Korean Peninsula.
In the PyeongChang Peace Forum 2020, investment guru Jim Rogers as well as railway experts will come together to discuss in depth the necessity and expected impact of connection between Donghae Line railway and the Trans Asian Railway, the investment value of the only unconnected section of Donghae line between Gangneung and Jejin, practical implementation plans and costs for connecting the two Koreas via railway, and investment recovery plans.
