Analyzing the Success Potentials of the Gangwon 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games based on the Diagnosis on the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022

- Building on the experiences of having joint inter-Korean sports training in PyeongChang and Masingnyeong on the occasion of PyeongChang 2018, the Gangwon 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games Organizing Committee is arranging a program that supports countries without winter sports infrastructure. The program invites youth from 50 countries that do not have snow such as those in Southeast Asia and provides them with joint training for one week in PyeongChang, South Korea and another week in Masingnyeong of Gangwon Province, North Korea. It also offers necessary equipment and sports coaches. Experiences and ideas from the relevant past experiences will be shared by participants of the inter-Korean sports training at PyeongChang 2018, youth from Gangwon Province being ready for Gangwon 2024 and those from Southeast Asia.
In the session, Gangwon Governor Choi Moon-soon who played a crucial role in PyeongChang 2018 and Mr. Ahn Yongkyu,President of Korea National Sport University, a birthplace of sports in Korea, will discuss the effect of inter-Korean sports training at Gangwon 2024. They will also explore the possibility of creating a unified Korean sports team and h○sting Gangwon 2024 jointly with Gangwon Province in North Korea while also seeking ways to realize them.
