The Session is to address the current threats and challenges to peace in Asia and Africa in order to build international solidarity among peoples and CSOs. In particular, two country cases will be presented, Myanmar in Asia and Ethiopia in Africa to draw the lessons for international solidarity actions. The following questions are to be addressed by presenters and discussants.
What are the causes of the political crisis and violent conflicts in Myanmar and Ethiopia - immediate, underlying and structural? What is your assessment of the response of people and CSOs to the crisis? How can international community, in particular CSOs can address the challenges more effectively?
The Session is organized by Asia Civil Society Partnership for Sustainable Development(APSD) in partnership with Africa Platform and other CSOs.

Organization Information
APSD is a regional (Asia) network and platform of international - regional civil society organizations (CSOs) in Asia engaged in the effective implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development known as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Asia and beyond through collaboration and coordination among various initiatives and programs by member and partner organizations. As of now, it has 17 member organizations engaged with issues related to poverty and inequality, democracy and anti-corruption, migration, social economy, agriculture, health, education and youth. APSD is a regional partner of the Action for Sustainable Development (A4SD) which is a global CSO umbrella network engaged in advocacy and campaign on SDGs and related issues.
