The Current Status and Tasks of Peace City

After 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympic games, Pyeongchang co-hosted the Pyeongchang Peace Forum with Gangwon-province as part of the olympic legacy project and promoted a Peace theme park as an olympic legacy project. Also Pyeongchang peace center was established to operate the facility. Pyeongchang"s policies and strategies to practice the Pyeongchang sprits of peace should also be accompanied by research and discourse development related to this. Pyeongchang held the 1st Pyeongchang Peace City Forum as an event for the Pyeongchang Peace Week on September 21, 2021 with the The Korean association for public diplomacy and introduced the concept and cases of Peace City.
As a specific example, presentations and discussions were made on policies and projects for the Peace City of Goseong, Paju and Pyeongchang.
This session is the 2nd Pyeongchang Peace City Forum. It aims to find common tasks by introducing the peace-related projects of Jeju, Busan, Incheon, Goyang, and DMZ border area of Gangwon-province.

Organization Information
Pyeongchang Peace Center was established as an institution in charge of managing the the olympic legacy after the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympic games.
It is a specialized institution for the realization of a Pyeongchang peace city and the globalization of the spirit of peace.
It is in charge of planning and research on the Pyeongchang agenda for peace(PCAP) adopted at the Pyeongchang Peace Forum and the implementation plan of the agenda. In addition, it is carrying out projects to build a peace network and realize the value of peace through cooperation with domestic and international peace cities and organizations.
